The Board of Directors of Elizabeth College are delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Jennifer Palmer to be the next Principal of Elizabeth College, after an intensive selection process that generated an excellent field of candidates. She will take up the appointment in September 2017 as successor to Mr George Hartley. Mrs Palmer is currently Deputy Headteacher of Mark Rutherford School in Bedford and her specialist academic subjects are Music and English.
The Very Revd Tim Barker, Chairman of the Board of Directors, said “We were delighted to have a strong and interesting field of candidates. After a rigorous process, the Directors were delighted to be able to invite Mrs Palmer to accept the appointment. She has an excellent track record as an educational leader, having taught in both selective and comprehensive schools in England. She brings demonstrable commitment to rigour in teaching and learning.”
“That Mrs Palmer was educated on Guernsey, at Blanchelande College and Elizabeth College, as one of a small group of former Blanchelande pupils who undertook their A levels at Elizabeth College due to Blanchelande’s temporary closure, only adds to our delight that we can welcome her as Principal of Elizabeth College from September 2017, to build on the significant achievements of Mr George Hartley during his tenure of the post of Principal.
Mrs Jennifer Palmer said “I am very proud to have been appointed as the next Principal of Elizabeth College. It is exciting to be returning to Guernsey and also to the school I attended for my A Level study. I am really looking forward to joining the Elizabeth College ‘family’ and to working with pupils, parents, staff and the wider community to continue to enhance and develop the already excellent standards and opportunities offered by Elizabeth College as part of the rich landscape of education on the island.”
