450th Anniversary Appeal: Thanks to donations from parents, OEs and other supporters of the College, the 450th Anniversary Appeal raised sufficient funds to complete all of the phase 1 to 3 projects. A copy of the Appeal Roll of Honour, listing all donors and containing images of the projects is available to view here (note: link to an external website).  The main projects enabled by donors’ generosity are:

Refectory-website• The FG Manchester Refectory has been created in a new storey on top of what was the Geography block, or the old gym as many people know it. Open since Easter 2013, it provides a hot meal service to all Upper School pupils at lunchtime and break.

• A new Early Years Foundation Stage classroom has been constructed and in full use since September 2013. It is designed to support the Early Years Curriculum which encompasses both indoor and outdoor learning. The success of the flourishing Pre-School and Pre-Prep departments at Acorn House means that space is always in demand and the new configuration has made a huge difference.

• A new Performing Arts Studio has been created in the ground floor of the Colborne building. This provides a flexible space incorporating a sizeable performance area with roll-out tiered seating. Music and drama have long been strengths of the College and are becoming increasingly popular so these fabulous facilities are particularly well used.Maths Classroom Construction May14

• An extension to the Maths department was completed during the summer of 2014 and now provides six purpose-built classrooms; crucial additional space to a subject area which is becoming increasingly popular at A level.

In addition to these major capital projects, a number of smaller projects have been funded by the Elizabeth College Foundation:

•     enhancements to the College’s ICT provision for Maths and computing teaching
•     installation of state of the art Fencing scoring equipment in the College Sport Hall
•     internal refurbishment of the beautiful historic College Field pavilion
•     the Roy Honey Digital Archive project – an accessible digital archive of the College’s records including the Elizabethan Magazine, whole school and sports photos.  The archive will be launched in early 2017.

Further details on the improvements and developments which have resulted from the generosity of donors to the Foundation are available in the latest newsletter.

The Elizabeth College Foundation is a charity set up to assist Elizabeth College in continuing to provide an excellent all-round education for children of the Bailiwick. It comprises both a Guernsey Registered Charitable Trust (CH91) and a UK Registered Charity (1120954) and was established with a number of important aims, not least to bring together members of the wider Elizabeth College including former parents of pupils, Old Elizabethans themselves, current Elizabethans and their parents, and other friends of the College.

Details of the many and much needed projects which have been delivered as a result of individual’s generous donations to the Foundation can be found in the latest newsletter.

All fundraising is in accordance with the Elizabeth College Foundation Fundraising Code of Practice.

The Foundation has a set of objectives which include the maintenance and improvement of buildings, provision of facilities and the awarding of bursaries and scholarships.

Patrons: We are very privileged to have as our Foundation Patrons four distinguished Old Elizabethans: the Bailiff, Sir Richard Collas (5699); Sir Peter Le Cheminant (3946); Advocate Roger Perrot (5450) and Sir Geoffrey Rowland (5603).

The Foundation intends to run appeals every five or six years. While the 2007 Appeal and 450th Anniversary Appeal have focused on a number of capital projects which were urgently required, the provision of bursaries and scholarships remains a long-term aim.

2007 Appeal: The 2007 Appeal successfully raised £1.5 million in donations from OEs in Guernsey, the UK and all over the world, as well as from parents, staff and other supporters of the College. These donations funded four very successful projects: the new Sixth Form Centre, the much utilised all weather pitch at Beechwood, a Library and Music Room at Acorn House and the Robin Roussel pavilion at the Memorial Field in Footes Lane.

450th Anniversary Appeal: The 450th Anniversary Appeal built on this success and again, thanks to donations from parents, OEs and other supporters of the College, raised over £1.8 million; sufficient funds to complete all of the phase 1 to 3 projects: the FG Manchester Refectory, a new Reception classroom at Acorn House,  a new Performing Arts Studio, an extended and refurbished Mathematics Faculty building and a redevelopment of the Tennis Court Area.  Further details are given on the first tab and in the latest newsletter.
