Chance of a Lifetime Appeal
There have been a number of landmark moments in the lifetime of the College; self-evidently the most important is its foundation in 1563 with the grant of the original site. 457 years on, we are at another landmark in the life of the College. A combination of student numbers, a wider and more sophisticated curriculum, and the important trend towards independent learning have all contributed towards what is a vital need for more space. Elizabeth College is delighted to have been able to purchase the building currently known as Canada Court from the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) in early January, and we will be paying tribute to OE Roger Perrot (5450) by naming this section of the College, Perrot Court. RBC will continue to occupy the building until July 2020 when we hope conversion work will commence to create a new Sixth Form Centre, Library and Learning Hub, classrooms and a new Reception.

As a result of the success of the Appeal, work has also commenced on establishing a Foundation Bursary Scheme, which will enable pupils from all walks of life in Guernsey who demonstrate the appropriate character and commitment to continue to be able to attend Elizabeth College. The scheme will help the College to maintain its diversity of intake, which has long been a feature of an Elizabeth College education and it is hoped that more details will be available next term.
Following the States reduction of College funding, September 2018 saw the last intake of Special Place Holders. Historically and importantly, this particular funding has enabled the College to maintain its island inclusivity. Boys from modest backgrounds have been able to access an Elizabeth College education and benefit from their own Chance of a Lifetime. The College Foundation has always been determined to continue this egalitarian approach and the establishment of the Elizabeth College Bursary Fund continues, therefore, the dual aim of this Chance of a Lifetime Appeal.
Including the tremendously generous Legacy left by Roger Perrot and donations received so far, we have raised a phenomenal sum towards the Appeal goals. There is still some way to go before we can continue developments with the Foundation Bursary Scheme. The Foundation seeks, therefore, to attract as much support as it can from this Chance of a Lifetime Appeal.
Thank you to all those who have supported the College in the past. We do ask you to do everything you can to assist us at this exciting and crucial moment in the future life of the College and its pupils. More information about how to donate to the appeal is here.
