Following a ‘Comic Relief’ swim for charity the Swim team of Harry Loveridge, Jonathan Beck, Henry Cliff and Will Russel headed to the UK for competitive swimming last week. Firstly competing in the St Paul’s School Otter relays invitational meet on Thursday evening, placing 10 out of 18 in a highly competitive event.
On Friday, the team had the chance to swim in the 50m Olympic Pool at Stratford with 72 HMC schools from across the UK, an inspiring venue for swimmers. The team qualified for the final of the 4×100 freestyle and placed 6th – an excellent result.
As it was Friday 13th it was no surprise that technical glitches meant the event ran very late and we had to leave before the final of the 4 x50 medley relay; however the team placed 13/72 at that stage so were missing out on a place in the final – by 0.3sec per swimmer!
Well done boys, a great effort!
