GCSE Success 2014

Pupils at Elizabeth College have once again achieved some fantastic results in their GCSE examinations. Almost a quarter of pupils’ GCSE grades were at A* (24%) and nearly half (48.4%) graded A*/A. 96% of all pupils achieved five A*-C grades.

The results were particularly strong at the top end with Jack Colley and T.J. Fitzgerald achieving 13 straight A* grades and Fergal Morrissey achieving 12 A* grades. A total of fifteen students also achieved at least 10 A*/A grades.

Principal George Hartley said; “It is always great to see the boys receive recognition for their hard work on results day and yet again many have exceeded expectations, especially at the top end where individual sets of results represent our best ever. It is also important to remember that Elizabeth College has a very broad pupil intake – with a particularly wide range of ability in this year group – and there have actually been some very pleasing results across the whole ability spectrum. Exam results are only one aspect of an excellent education, of course, and at the College we place as much emphasis on the development of individual character, enabling our pupils to lead happy and successful lives”.
