Year 8 and 9 Elizabeth College students have lifted the regional trophy in the Channel Island heat of the UK Maths Challenge. Next stop for students Alex Potter, Francois Cloete and Tom Stapley is the Royal Horticultural Halls in London for the UK final in June. Over 1,700 schools take part in the event, with only 80 progressing to the final round. Locally the event is supported by BWCI who enable schools across the Channel Islands to take part in the regional event, and then sponsor the winning team on the trip to the UK final. As well as ‘serious’ mathematical questions, the event is a lot of fun with a range of different rounds and challenges.
