This weekend saw a group of Old Elizabethans unveiling a commemorative plaque in the churchyard of Tideswell church, near Buxton. This was to mark the 70 years that have passed since the end of their ‘exile’ there during the Second World War. The Old Elizabethan society funded the restoration of a quiet area outside of the church where the plaque now stands as a thank you for the kindness shown to the Elizabeth College students during their time in Derbyshire. The granite plaque was engraved by current pupils from Elizabeth College.
