Outstanding GCSE results

Pupils at Elizabeth College have achieved another set of outstanding results in their GCSE examinations, with a best ever 32% of entries graded at the top A* level. A fantastic 59.4% of grades were graded A*/A and 97.3% graded A* to C.

Principal Jenny Palmer said “This is another fantastic set of GCSE results for the College. It is great to see our pupils receive recognition on results day for all of their hard work. I would also like to thank the College staff, particularly outgoing Principal George Hartley, and our parents for all the support they have given to the pupils.”

99% of pupils achieved the key measure of 5 or more passes at grades A* to C including English and Maths.

The results were particularly strong at the top end with three pupils achieving 13 A* grades and over one third (35%) achieving at least 10 A*/A grades. Although as Principal Jenny Palmer explains Elizabeth College prides itself on offering a rounded education for all;  “The results, which are particularly strong at the top end, also include many outstanding individual performances across the broad ability spectrum of our pupils, demonstrating an excellent ‘value added’ score. However, exam results are only one aspect of an excellent education and at the College we place a strong emphasis on extra-curricular activities and the development of individual character, preparing our pupils for their next steps and future successes”.
