Sport is a major part of school life and has a high profile at Elizabeth College. It provides opportunities to develop socially, creates a sense of community, and provides our students with a welcome change in focus from their academic endeavours.

At Elizabeth College sport consists of a collaboration of our engaging and inclusive PE and Games programmes. The aim is to unlock the potential of every student by exposing them to a range of experiences and opportunities. Specialist teachers and coaches are used to deliver a curriculum which challenges every student from Reception to Year 13.

Sport offers plenty of opportunities to cultivate communication and leadership skills, to work as part of a team, and to develop resilience by learning to meet success and failure head-on. Importantly, participation in sport is an excellent way to improve health and wellbeing.

All students at Elizabeth College are encouraged to participate in a wide range of sporting activities. There are both competitive inter-school programmes (including off-island tours) as well as inter-house competitions, providing opportunities not only for the most talented performers to develop and flourish but also for the many others who are keen to practise and compete, and most importantly enjoy themselves.

At Elizabeth College we know that sport has a direct, positive impact on our students’ wellbeing, as the link between positive, resilient mindsets and physical activity cannot be ignored. Our goal is to ensure a high quality sporting experience for all our students, which begins with our very youngest children at the Junior School, and we hope will lead them to enjoy a lifelong involvement in some form of physical activity.
