Why ECJS?

We couldn’t be prouder of our happy, friendly school. Here are just some of the reasons why:

Aim High – we are a flourishing co-educational IAPS Junior School, and proud to be part of the Elizabeth College family. We offer  an excellent  education for children aged 4-11 years.

Be Kind – we are proud to put the children at the centre of everything we do. Our stimulating learning environment, inspirational teaching staff, and outstanding pastoral care are what sets us apart from other schools.

Be Brave – we aim to nurture happy, curious, motivated, bold and adventurous children, unafraid to embrace life and seek new adventures. Children who leave the Junior School are rounded individuals who are well prepared for an exciting future on the next stage of their educational journey at Elizabeth College.

DAY TO DAY LIFE AT ECJS

The Junior School is split over two sites, joined by the Elizabeth College Junior School Field. The Acorn site is located on the King’s Road and the Beechwood site on the Queen's Road.

Reception to Year 2 students at Elizabeth College Junior School are situated at the Acorn site. The campus includes the Pre-School and Key Stage 1 departments of the Junior School, catering for the needs of boys and girls from 2 ½ + to 7 years. Students aged 8 to 11 years (Years 3 to 6) are taught on the Beechwood site. It is a busy, happy campus full of active children who are given every opportunity to achieve all of which they are capable.

Excellent facilities at the Junior School provide all children with a good learning environment. Every member of staff supports and nurtures the children. The Junior School is a ‘Right Respecting School’, through its school council  it respects and reflects the children’s views and opinions.

The ICT provision within the Junior School is of a high specification and is fully networked with Interactive Smart Boards in each teaching room and a fully fitted Discovery and Learning Zone. Banks of laptops and iPads are available for the children to use throughout the Junior School. Safe access to the Internet adds to the resources available for the students’ experience.

Art, Music and Physical Education play an important part of school life. There is a wide range of musical activities, with concerts, special services and a whole school production held throughout the year. A wide ranging Physical Education curriculum provides each child with access to a variety of disciplines. The older children are able to take part in team games, with matches played both on and off island.

Elizabeth College Junior School students have a friendly, open nature; they are happy and feel secure and develop into ‘rounded’ citizens. They are very proud of their school and are always delighted to have the opportunity to demonstrate their learning and understanding.

An aspirational, vibrant environment where children can learn and grow.
