Year 8 Football Tour Report, ‘Beckham vs Le Tissier’

ecadmin Elizabeth College, Upper School News

Following a tour of St. Mary’s Stadium, home of Southampton FC, the Year 8 team kicked off their fixtures against Twyford School. Thanks to a goal from Frazer Maginnis the game finished one all.

The second fixture was against hosts Stroud School, despite going into the break one nil down the College responded strongly and great teamwork saw Sam Fell score the equaliser. A lively period of play ensued and the final scoreline Stroud 3 – Elizabeth College 1 probably did not accurately reflect the Elizabeth College team effort.

Farleigh School was the final destination where the team played a triangular tournament against  Farleigh and London school Wetherby. A last minute goal left Farleigh victorious and Elizabeth College disappointed in the first game. The second match saw Romeo Beckham playing for Wetherby, lining up against an Elizabeth College squad that included another great footballing name, Le Tissier! Having picked up a few knocks along the way Elizabeth College finished 2-nil down. Despite the score line the boys all enjoyed their tour and work hard to improve their football.
