An outstanding education for boys and girls aged 2 ½ to 18

JOINING ELIZABETH COLLEGE

This is a very exciting time in the history of the School as we move to welcoming girls at the Upper School from September 2021. This means that girls and boys will be able to enjoy an Elizabeth College education from the age of 2 ½ all the way through to 18.

Elizabeth College Junior School’s pupils have been benefitting from a co-educational environment since 2008 and those at the Upper School have enjoyed the positive impact of our twenty-year partnership at Sixth Form with The Ladies’ College. We want to extend these social, cultural and academic advantages to all ages.

We recognise and embrace the changing world around us and look forward to welcoming future generations of girls and boys to join us in creating this exciting next chapter in our history.

ELIZABETH COLLEGE ENTRY

The typical ages for admission into Elizabeth College are Pre-School and Reception at the Junior School, and 11 and 16 at the Upper School. However, there are sometimes vacancies for entry at other ages.

Parents are advised to complete the registration form as soon as is practicable, as there can be strong competition to gain places at Elizabeth College.

Offers of places are subject to the admission requirements of the school and further information is available here: Registration FAQs.

If you wish to register your child please complete one of the the Registration Forms included below, together with a non-refundable cheque for £110.00, payable to Elizabeth College.

Children entering Years 1 to 6 are required to spend a morning in School where they will be assessed for entry. There are few vacancies in these year groups and places offered are dependent on the assessments carried out within school. For families moving to the island, arrangement may be made with their child’s current school for assessments to be carried out in situ.

The entrance assessment for entry to Year 7 in September 2021 will be held on Saturday 14 November 2020 from 08.45am to 11.45am.

You are encouraged to register your son or daughter at an early opportunity.

Subject to availability of places, a second sitting of the entrance assessment for entry to Year 7 each September may be held during Lent Term.

The assessment takes the form of a suite of online tests that assess a candidate’s reasoning (thinking) abilities in four key areas of educational development and academic attainment: verbal, non-verbal, numerical and spatial.

These tests provide a standardised measure of cognitive reasoning ability, without reference to curriculum-based material and regardless of previous achievements, with the basic aim of ensuring candidates will be able to cope with the College’s curriculum. It should be noted that there is no expectation that candidates will revise or prepare specifically for the assessment.

Entry into the Sixth Form, at 16, is based upon GCSE results. Candidates are required to gain a minimum of five passes at grade 4 or above including Maths and English, but usually are expected to have superior GCSE grades (grade 6) in the subjects they intend to study in the Sixth Form.

If you are considering Sixth Form entry please contact College before the receipt of GCSE results to discuss available subject choices.
