At Elizabeth College we care about the environment and sustainability.

Our commitment to becoming a more sustainable school impacts on many different aspects of school life. Our Student Eco Team, work closely with other students, staff and the Senior Leadership Team towards achieving our sustainability goals and has made considerable progress on environmentally friendly initiatives at College since its inception in 2018.

Elizabeth College was the first school in Guernsey to be awarded Green Flag status by the Eco-Schools charity. The Eco-Schools programme empowers young people to make a difference in their school, local community and beyond. The Eco Team selected three focus topics - Biodiversity, Transport and Water – and created an action plan to make improvements in those areas. It was fantastic recognition for the Eco Team to be awarded its Green Flag, with distinction.

This year Elizabeth College hosted the 'Great Climate Change Debate' where A Level students in Guernsey spoke passionately about our planet’s future. A student-led Eco Cookbook was published in time for Christmas and the popular, annual Eco Day raised more than £2,000 for local charities, including the Eleanor Foundation, with more than 50 bikes donated by our community.

In addition the Elizabeth College Eco Team is proud to have won an award at the Channel Islands Insurance Corporation Bailiwick Conservation Awards for the third year running. It is great to have the hard work of the Eco Team recognised in this way.
