FOOD AT ELIZABETH COLLEGE
The College provides a full cooked lunch service at both the Upper School and Junior School sites.
At each site pupils are offered a wide choice of nutritious, freshly prepared meals, using fresh local produce wherever possible. A great deal of care has been put into creating nourishing and varied food choices in line with the College’s healthy eating ethos.
Both the Refectory and the Junior School kitchen were independently inspected for food hygiene and both have been awarded five stars.
The FG Manchester Refectory at the Upper School is open from 7.30am to lunch daily.
It operates a Cashless Payment System which eliminates the need for pupils to carry cash to school and provides parents with an easy means of controlling spending. Cash or cheque additions to the Card should be sent via the School Office. Alternatively parents can transfer funds to Catering’s own bank account and the card balance will be updated. Further information is available in these documents, FAQ Information Sheet and Cashless Card Limit /Application Form

The dining room AT Acorn House has child friendly serving counters children are encouraged to choose their own meals with staff assistance. All ingredients are nutritionally balanced, varied and wherever possible, sourced locally. Main meals are served with unlimited vegetables, salad and fruit. We also provide a choice of either a glass of freshly squeezed fruit juice or a homemade soup and a choice of desserts.
Our Pre-School children are served a separate and simpler menu by our catering team plus their own dedicated Pre-School staff. Pre-School’s cutlery is ergonomically designed to assist our younger pupils in holding their cutlery correctly.
Acorn House children eat in our Dining Room and select their own menu choices. Beechwood follow for the second sitting and are given the same choices, but cooked at a different time so that they are just as fresh.
As our menus are so varied, we are also able to cater for children who have medical and dietary requirements such as dairy, wheat or nut intolerances.
We have found that, as our children select their own meals from our three healthy and nutritionally balanced choices, we have given them ownership of their meal choices and consequently we now have happy and healthy mealtimes with far less wastage.
Lunches for children at Acorn House and the Pre-School are compulsory and included within the fees. Beechwood pupils may elect whether to have a cooked lunch or not. Many do and this is charged in arrears to their fee account.
